We love styling the latest fashion trends, especially when there's a bit of a challenge involved! Colour blocking has been all the rage this fall and while pairing multiple solid colours together might seem daunting, Stylist Erica Wark showed us how to make sure your pieces complement each other rather than overpower. Your outfit should revolve around a palette of two or more colours, usually in bright and bold shades to create a simple, yet chic, look.

BURGUNDY AND MUSTARD

Mustard and burgundy are both quintessential fall colours and though you might not have thought about pairing them together, we promise they're a great combination! Burgundy acts as a neutral background for the pop of jewel tone in the mustard. To build your look, opt for a base layer in burgundy such as a shift dress. Adding layers, such as a sweater or a jacket, will help you tie mustard into the outfit without taking away from the colour of your base layer. If you want to utilize the colour blocking technique subtly, adding pops of mustard into your accessories is a great way to go. From earrings to a handbag, mustard accessories will help tie together the look.

DARK GREEN AND BRIGHT CITRON

This combination might seem unexpected, but that's what's fun about it! Adding bright citron to darker shades of green is a unique way to inject colour to fall neutrals. Again, using a darker colour as a base will help you create a foundation for your look. A dark green jumpsuit or dress will take on a whole new vibe when it's paired with a citron turtleneck! Not only will you get more longevity out of "summer" items, but you can also add another layer on top for colder months such as a wool coat.

RED AND LAVENDER

Soft pastel tones have been huge this year and we love seeing them paired with bold jewel tones. Using a sheer fabric for one of your colours will help give it a softer feel. If you're worried about mixing textures in one outfit, don't be! Not only will it add more depth to your look, but it will also add a bit of edge. Opting for a bold red suit will help diversify your wardrobe as you can wear the pieces separately or together. When adding in lavender, a simple blouse will add a perfect pop of colour.
