How to maximize your fall wardrobe by styling one sweater three different ways

With the weather getting cooler and daylight decreasing, it can be tempting to reach for the same cozy classics daily. However, being comfortable doesn’t always mean that you need to compromise on fashion! Stylist Joe Zee showed us how we can style the same sweater in three completely different ways to maximize our fall wardrobes. Joe used a staple sweater in a neutral colour, and having one of these in your closet is definitely key!

PROFESSIONAL

From lunch meetings to a day at the office, wearing a professional outfit isn’t everyone’s favourite. This look proves that looking “professional” doesn’t always have to be boring! A neutral turtleneck always looks great with an everyday pair of plaid plants. If plaid isn’t your style, you can also use a pair of black dress pants. Adding fun, yet subtle, pops of colour throughout your outfit is what will really bring the look together. From a mustard bag to burnt-orange heels, you’ll never think that looking professional is dull again!

TRENDY

For those that are looking for new ways to wear a sweater to dinner or on a daytime outing, this one’s for you! Rather than reaching for your favourite pair of jeans, step out of your comfort zone and into a patterned pleated midi skirt! Midi skirts were all the rage this summer and the trend is continuing to roll into fall. With a variety of colours and patterns available at most stores, you’ll be able to find one that fits your personality and pairs well with your staple sweater. To pull the look together, layer up with a wool blend overcoat that complements the colour of your skirt.

If staying as cozy as possible is your main priority, we don’t blame you. However, we do think it’s time to put aside your cotton leggings because there are much better options out there! Leather leggings are extremely versatile and will pair perfectly with any sweater you own. They can be dressed up or dressed down depending on where you’re wearing them. Whether you opt for a black pair or a rich brown colour for fall, these leggings will take your everyday outfit to the next level. For an added layer of comfort, reach for a neutral cape or blanket scarf to wear on top.
