Cardinal’s Karine Vanasse shares her favourite maternity looks

Cardinal’s Karine Vanasse is expecting a new bundle of joy! She’s 6.5 months pregnant and also a huge lover of fashion, so in addition to discussing the new season of Cardinal, she stopped by to show us how she loves to dress up her bump.

SWEATER DRESS

A sweater dress is a great piece for sporting a bump. If it’s a longer length, you won’t have to worry about it riding up while you’re moving around. Plus, it’s a great piece to invest in, as you can wear it post-pregnancy. The one on the mannequin is from Canadian designer, Marma. You can edge it up with a longer moto jacket! Oversized doesn’t have to be always flowy and matronly.

According to Karine, over the knee boots are MUST under dresses when you’re pregnant. You’ll be able to feel comfortable while not exposing anything if in case your dress rides up. Also, it gives you a sexy feel while pregnant.

BOLD COLOURS

Karine is not a huge fan of prints, but she does love bold colours. When pregnant, Karine loves a monochromatic look because it takes away all the attention from going right to your bump.

Structured pieces like a great tailored coat can give you shape and Karine loves this one from Canadian designer, Symthe. It’s clean and simple, something that can go a long way. You don’t have to over compensate your pregnancy look with too many accessories.

COLOUR-BLOCKING

Colour-blocking is a fresh way to incorporate different colours in your pregnancy wardrobe. Keep in mind that you won’t always need to purchase specialty clothes from a maternity store. Buy a regular sweater in a larger size!

Additionally, try pairing a shorter sweater with a pair of trousers to create a tighter-fitting silhouette under your bump. It’s important that you don’t lose your shape completely! Also, if the sweater rides up, you’ll have a great piece underneath.

A trench coat adds a masculine touch and it can also be adjusted with your growing belly! Just utilized the tie up belt.
