Keeping up with your beauty routines at home on your own can definitely be a bit of a learning curve, especially when it comes to eyebrows. From shaping to styling, makeup artist Shaby has all the tips and tools you need to seamlessly transform your brows to salon-worthy in no time!

GROW ’EM

Great brows start with the hair you have, so the first step is getting them to their optimal state. Whether you’re a victim of overplucking or your brows have simply thinned over time (it’s a thing!), a growth serum like Province Apothecary Full Brow Serum ($36) will help strengthen, condition and thicken the brow hair you already have, while encouraging new hair growth.

SHAPE ’EM

Next, you gotta find your shape: Hold your tweezers flush against side of the bridge of your nose, pointing straight up. Follow that line up to your brow area and mark with a brow pencil. This is where your brow should start. Next, holding your tweezers horizontally, check that the tops and bottoms of your brows are aligned. Then, take the bottom of your tweezers to the tip of your nose and point them diagonally across your pupil. Where that line meets your brow line is where your arch should be. Use your brow pencil to mark that point. Last but not least, swing those tweezers out to the outer corner of your eye, with the other end still at the tip of your nose, to identify where your brows should end. Once you’ve identified your shape, fill in your brows, and pluck away any stray hairs that fall outside your newly defined guidelines.

STYLE ’EM

Once you’ve got your brows in shape, it’s time to style ‘em, and the products you need depend on the look you’re going for. You can never go wrong with keeping things au naturel, which is why we love the Fenty Beauty MVP Sculpting Wax Pencil & Styler ($20). Not only does it add definition without colour, but it's also sweat and water-resistant, so it’s perfect for the gym or outdoor activities. Plus, it comes with a handy built-in brush for effortless styling.

Looking to give your brows a boost while still achieving a more natural look? Try Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow+ Tinted Volumizing Eyebrow Gel ($32 at Sephora). Its fibres attach to your brow hair, adding a fullness and fluffiness to your brows without looking like you’re wearing a ton of product. It comes in a wide variety of colours, so make sure to get the shade closest to your own natural hair colour.

For a more polished, defined look, we’re all about the Charlotte Tilbury Brow Lift Pencil ($32). It's three products in one: a brow pencil, a grooming brush and a highlighter for that extra shimmer and definition.

Now, if “go big or go home” is your motto, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade ($24 at Sephora) is sure to impress. It's perfect for those who want a perfectly sculpted, dramatic brow, but you do need to be comfortable using an angled brush to fill in their brows. Start at the bottom and draw in the under part of your brow and work your way upwards, blending as you go. If you overdo it, don’t fret: the product comes with a built-in brush, which will help to remove a bit of the product if you go a bit overboard with the colour.

SET ’EM

Finally, don't forget to set your brows in place! The NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel ($10) is a stress-free way to lock in your brows for the day. It’s flake-resistant, water-resistant and, most importantly, it stays put.
