Six New Beauty Products You Need In Your Cosmetics Bag

Beauty expert Chantel Guertin is showcasing the latest and greatest breakthroughs in makeup and skincare.

The MakeupDrop, $20

Made of non-porous, highly durable silicone, The MakeupDrop is a trailblazing tool in makeup application. The flat surface provides you with amazing, unmatched coverage, perfectly blending your foundation, blush, highlighter and concealer seamlessly and smoothly into your skin.

  • Its clever teardrop shape is specially designed so you can create flawless looks by masterfully tapping into targeted areas (i.e. use the slim top of the drop to blend around the eyes, and the wider part of the tear for your face, neck and décolleté).
  • he MakeupDrop™ also allows you to use the least amount of makeup possible – unlike sponges, which soak in extra product, the flat silicone surface won’t absorb a single drop.

Cilque Pillowcase, $69
Cilque pillowcase – You may have heard the hype about sleeping on a silk pillowcase for its anti-aging benefits and ability to beat bedhead. I have been using a Cilque pillowcase now for about a month and I love it so much. This is an Canadian company that uses 100% premium mulberry silk charmeuse which is the highest quality of silk and it’s so much gentler on your skin than Egyptian cotton – it completely prevents any creases and lines from your face when you’re sleeping and as your hair glides on the silk, it prevents bedhead. I find that I can style my hair and make it last for five days without having any frizz in the morning. They have a whole line of bedding but I love even just the pillowcase, which you can slip onto your pillow.

The Belted Pony
We saw this look on the spring 2017 runways and I just love it as a fresh, interesting way to wear a simple low pony. Once you’ve secured your hair into a smooth low pony with an elastic, wrap a belt around the elastic to hide it. There are a couple of tricks to this look – you want to find a belt that’s wide enough to cover the elastic, but not too wide that it’s hard to keep in place. Fabric ones are best because they’re going to be really flexible.  I’ve chosen ones from The Gap and Old Navy here. You’re going to loop the belt through the buckle and then flip it back through the buckle again to secure it in place.

Estee Lauder NEW Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery Eye Mask, $49

  • Infused with Advanced Night Repair technology, plus a surge of concentrated moisture and soothing anti-irritants to rejuvenate the look and feel of the eye area after the stresses of modern life.
  • Innovative, triple-layer fresh-delivery system results in high-performance eye pads that are saturated on application to offer a sustained release, targeted delivery for eyes.
  • Fine, dry lines are plumped as skin is drenched in moisture that lasts for hours. In just 10 minutes, eyes look radiant, rested and renewed – awake with fresh, luminous youth.

GlamGlow GravityMud Firming Treatment Sonic Blue Mask, $69

You may have seen people with this blue mask all over Instagram. So why blue? Well, the blue aspect is really just for fun – it’s GlamGlow’s limited edition Sonic the Hedgehog version, but the actual product is a mud mask that firms your face in half an hour. It’s the GravityMud Firming Treatment that’s intended to help with loss of firmness and elasticity in the face as well as fine lines and wrinkles. GlamGlow was originally created for to use backstage in Hollywood to prep actors skin before wearing makeup for movies so that it looked good in HD. What I love about this mask is that unlike most masks that you dissolve with water, this one goes on for 20-30 minutes and then peels off to reveal your tighter more lifted skin without any parabens, sulfates or phthalates. You can use it twice a week.

Benefit They’re Real Double the Lip, $20

The two tone lip was on spring 2017 runways – and Benefit has made it easy to get this look with their new Double the Lip lipsticks – the teardrop tip has two paired shades (and there are 8 to choose from). You apply but placing the skinnier tip at the outer edge of your lip, running the lipstick over your top lip then flipping the lipstick to do the same on the bottom lip. Not only does it give you that two tone look but it also gives you the look of fuller lips and you can skip the lip lining step.
