How one chef is preventing food waste and feeding Toronto's hungry

Chef Jagger Gordon is an executive chef on a mission to make sure no one is left hungry. He founded Feed it Forward as an attempt to 'feed Canadians, not land fill.' Canadians throw away a shocking 40% of their food as food waste, totalling upwards of $31 billion! With staggering numbers like that, it's absolutely unacceptable that so many Canadians go hungry and chef Jagger won't rest until that changes.

His first initiation was the 'feed families' freezer program which provides nutrious, quality meals to those in need using leftover but still perfectly items from local food producers. Next, he opened the The Soup Bar, which is a non-profit, pay-what-you-can restaurant utilizing leftover produce and other ingredients from restaurants that would have otherwise been thrown into the garbage. He served 300 people in the first 3 hours, and the rest was history.

Chef Jagger is making a tremendous difference in his community, and encouraging all of us to look at our food differently. You too can make a difference and eliminate food waste in your home, and beyond.
