If your home feels a little outdated, it might be time to make some changes! Regardless of the size or style of your space, details matter. Whether you want a better flow in your home or simply want to up your decor game, these seven tips will help you give your space a style makeover.

LIGHTEN THINGS UP

If your house feels dark and lifeless, it's probably time to brighten things up. Whether you want to lighten the floors, walls or both, making your space lighter will change the entire feel of it. Light hardwood and light tiles will make a much bigger difference than you may think!

INCORPORATE DRAPES

Drapes can make a dramatic difference in the way your windows look. Floor to ceiling panels will help draw your eye upwards while also making your space feel brighter. Light coloured drapes work especially well when trying to make a big change in a dark room.

FOCUS ON THE DETAILS

No matter what size your home is, details matter. From cabinet hardware to details in the ceiling, every texture and pattern can make an impact. By adding a personal touch to things like decor and wallpaper, your home will feel more unique.

REORGANIZE FURNITURE

If the way your furniture is laid out isn't practical anymore, rearrange it! Set up your space in a way to better suit your needs. Don't be afraid to switch rooms around either! Living rooms and dining rooms can be interchangeable. For comfortable entertaining, feel free to move things around to better suit the flow in your house.

STAY NEUTRAL, BUT NOT DULL

For comfort and longevity of style, try to stay more on the neutral side when it comes to decorating your home. At the same time, don't hold back on adding personality into a neutral colour palette. Whether you want to add subtle pops of colour around your home or use layering techniques to elevate the textures and patterns of your walls, the possibilities are endless!

BLING IT UP

In any home, bling goes a long way. Having something that adds a little sparkle or glimmer can create a focal point and really help brighten up a mediocre room. Small touches here and there are great, but try not to overdo it! Adding bling can be as simple as getting a shiny decorative pillow for your couch.

TRANSFORM THE MUNDANE

Keep an eye out for any design opportunities around your home! Rather than leaving a closet with metal wire shelves or plain doors, have something that allows you to showcase personal items. Whether you have a beautiful handbag or a jewellery display case, turning ordinary items into decor will turn a space from mundane to unique.
