Three simple ways to make your home look more polished

Not only will an equal balance help you feel anxious, but it can also help your home feel even larger. For example, having a sofa and coffee table would balance out the room rather than just a sofa. Similarly, a low cabinet could be balanced out by placing a piece of art above.

MIX IT UP

Long are the days where matching every piece of furniture was ideal. With so many new trends, mismatching furniture finishes is just one way to personalize your space. Between wood, fabrics, metal and glass, you’d be surprised how well different finishes complement each other. Same goes for patterns and textures, don’t be afraid to play around with the size, style and colours of your décor pieces.

When it comes to the colour palette of your space, try to incorporate five or more colours. At the same time, avoid using the exact same colour in several places. Instead, switch up the shades of that colour for different elements. An easy way to incorporate colour and add more texture to your room is by using baskets, wallpaper, light fixtures, pillows and drapes. Even throw blankets and rugs can make a noticeable difference.

BRING ON THE LAYERS

Layering with décor helps create beautiful vignettes that make a statement about your space. Whether you add pillows, art, accessories, plants or all four, sometimes the simplest layers are the most impactful. Adding pillows onto your couch near a throw is one way of doing this. Placing books and accessories onto a coffee table is another simple way to layer. If you’re looking to frame a piece of art, adding a floor lamp or plant strategically in front will help achieve more layers.
