Everything you need to know to create a designer-worthy bedroom

Interior designer, Jane Lockhart, shares her secrets to shopping like a designer – plus reveals exactly how to plan the perfect bedroom space!
Janes bedroom space-planning tips:
1) ALWAYS have a tape measure with you when you go to the store, so you can check the heights of things before you shop. You also want to know the length of the headboard wall so you know what size bed and what width the bedside tabel can be.
2) When it comes to the size of the carpet in your bedroom, don't go too small as it will make the room look broken up. Have about 18" to 24" on the side of the bed then add width of bed to get the minimun size of rug.
3) On your main feature wall, where your headboard is: aim for a "pyramind" look when adding art over the bed so it draws the eye up.
4) Select a paint colour that doesn't necessarily match the rest of the house. This is a private space and can be anything you like. The colour featured in this vignette is a mauve and purple called, "soft wine" – by DULUX. They say that this colour helps you sleep!
5) Add a tray to a night stand if one of you is messy and tends to clutter the night stand. This will keep it organized.
