5 tips to make any space seem larger

Most of us would love a sprawling estate with no shortage of space, but that's just the reality we're living in. So, instead we'll work to make the most of what we have, and that includes choosing certain pieces to help create the illusion that we've got room to spare. Follow these simple rules to keep from feeling cramped in your home.

Play with drapery.  Instead of choosing drapes to fit your window frame, try placing them 1 to 2 feet outside of the actual window to make the wall feel much larger and brighter.

Choose furniture that’s raised off the floor. Chairs and sofas on legs will allow light to filter around the room uninteruppted. This can make it feel more airy and less confined.

Choose lighter coloured rugs to open up the room and make it appear larger.

Delcutter! Only keep the necessary things out in the open.  Everything else should be minimalized.
