There are countless ways you can take your home from ordinary to unique and adding touches of bold colour is one of them! Interior Designers Jonathan Mann and Julia Tuitt-Mann shared their favourite ways to incorporate pops of colour into a home without over-doing it.

MAKE AN IMPACT WITH ACCESSORIES

When you’re working with a neutral and calming space, some might choose to leave the room as-is. However, if staying completely neutral isn’t what you’re going for there are a few strategic ways you can add pops of colour to transform your space. A common mistake that many people make is using furniture as their hit of colour. While this isn’t necessarily a “design crime,” colour trends tend to go in and out style fairly quickly. On top of that, it’s easy to get tired of a colour that’s prominently placed in our home. Rather than taking a risk with your investment pieces, elevate your décor and make an impact with your accessories.

A great way to use décor as the foundation of the colours you want to incorporate is by adding greenery. Greenery can be used as inspiration for the accent colour that you decide to use, such as emerald green. From an accent rug to tabletop accessories and cushions, there are numerous ways you can tie the colour into your space.

GO BOLD WITH AN ACCENT WALLS

Accent walls have been popular for quite some time, and they’re not going out of style any time soon. If you’re the type of person that can commit to a colour for a long time, painting an accent wall in your space is the perfect option for you! You might be wondering how to narrow it down to just one colour. Try to consider whether or not the colour is timeless, easy on the eyes and complementary to the accents in your home. If you decide to stick with neutral furniture, painting an accent wall will really help bring together a fresh look. The impact of painting just one wall can add lots of value to the room while also making a major statement!
