Three bold colours that you should consider injecting into your front door

If you’re nervous about being bold with your front door, you’re definitely not alone. While neutral colours are typically the most common, Designer Jane Lockhart walked us through three perfect colour combos that anyone can try!

DEEP RED

Whether you have a light exterior to your home with white windows and trim or a dark exterior, red is a classic that blends well with almost anything. Even for modern homes that tend to stay within a dark colour scheme, red will add a timeless touch to the deeper shades. It blends well with greens, greys, blacks and taupe. Red will be a reminder to anyone that walks or drives by that you are warm, classic and even a little daring!

FOREST GREEN

Forest green is a regal classic that’s occasionally referred to as “British Racing Green” for its use on Jaguars in Europe. While forest green might be a jump from what you’re used to, it falls under the off-black category as it’s simply a tinted black with a green undertone and looks best with lighter or neutral trim colours. It also pairs well with natural woods, walnut colours and light/peachy bricks. If you don’t want to go as bold as forest green, blackened olive is a fantastic alternative that’s perfect for modern-styled homes. Best of all, a dark green door represents being regal, elegant, peaceful and graceful.

JEWELLERY BOX BLUE

You might be wondering why you would ever want to use a high-intensity turquoise on your front door. This colour speaks to the individuality of the exteriors of the home. If you want people to focus on the personal style of your home rather than the architecture or history of the house, this colour option is worth exploring! It adds vibrancy to the front of the house and works well with black, charcoal or orange-based bricks. For all the fashionistas out there, a jewellery bow blue door says that you aren’t afraid to show off what you like!
