We challenged a luxury event planner and an avid upcycler to go head-to-head in our Oscar Party Challenge! With help from two of our experts, each team decorated their own area of the studio to show us how they would host an epic Oscar-viewing party.

As a luxury event planner, Melissa Baum works on everything from glamorous birthdays to sophisticated weddings. Staying organized and creative is what fuels her when event planning, along with guest interaction. Melissa always makes sure that there is an opportunity for event guests to make memories. When it comes to thrifting and DIYs, Erin Rochon has an eye for finding beauty in the unexpected. As an upcycler and interior decorator, Erin loves teaching people that they don't need to have design skills in order to make something beautiful and functional.

HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR

With help from DIY expert Sarah Milligan, Melissa created a rose dream room that was super glam and elegant. With Hollywood glamour as an inspiration, there incorporated sparkly pillows, contemporary furniture and chic decor. They wanted the space to be fashionable, yet comfortable. By placing ottomans and coffee tables, they made sure the area was welcoming. They created a DIY wall made with black hats that's great on display, but can also be used to wear for photos!

BOLD AND VINTAGE

Erin's vision for her Oscar Party display was to make a relaxing and welcoming environment to make people feel comfortable. With help from Kasia Waloszczyk, she created a bold and fun space mixed with eye-catching furniture and vintage finds that she thrifted. For a photo opportunity, they created DIY Oscar statues to hold behind a frame for the perfect shot!
