Spice Up Your Interior With Simple DIYs

Marcy Mussari shares different ways to spice up your home this winter with DIYs that add colour, texture & warmth to your space.

Creating Your own Stylish Abstract Art
 
Materials
  • Ribba Ikea Frame
  • Gold Spray Paint
  • Painters Tape
  • Paint brushes 
  • Two or Three other paint colours of your choice.
  • Large water colour paper 
 
Instructions for Frame
  1. Take the glass and cardboard out of the back
  2. Measure out 4 inches on each side of the corners of the frame and make a line
  3. Tape the rest of the frame down with painters tape
  4. Spray paint all of the corners. Make sure you so one light coat and another one on top. 
  5. Leave the frame to dry, then remove all of the tape carefully.
  6. Add your art and hang!
Instructions for Art: 
  1. Grab your large paper And lay it out 
  2. Find some inspiration abstract art
  3. Take a plastic plate and pour out your colours
  4. Apply paint lightly to the brush
  5. Start creating your abstract art. Add more or less colour when needed.
  6. Let it dry, frame and enjoy! 
 
Fur Poof
 
Materials
  • 1 Metre of Fur
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Ikea Foot Stool
 Instructions
  1. Lay out your fur on the table, turn your foot stool on its side and measure out the the perimeter
  2. With a piece of chalk or permeant marker, draw a line across the back side of the fabric and cut out your piece - make sure you leave 2 or 3 extra inches at the top.
  3. Neatly apply hot glue to each side of the stool around the top, sides and bottom and glue your fur.
  4. Once the sides are all glued together take what is left at the top and cut the corners on neat 45 degree angle.
  5. One at a time, glue each piece inside of the stool
  6. Take the Top of the stool and cut down your fabric leaving 2” around each side.
  7. Again, cut down 45 degree angles on each of the corners and glue all of the sides down making sure that everything is neat and tucked it. Cut off any access fur that might get in the way
  8. Put the top on and you are ready to sit back, relax and enjoy your new stylish foot stool!
 
 
Spicing Up Your Bar Cart
 
Materials
  • Ikea Cart
  • Gold Spray Paint
  • Navy Blue Paint
Decorative elements:
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Marshmallows
  • Trays
  • Floral Arrangement
  • Vases, Coffee Table Books and Decor Pieces
  • Mugs
  • Decorative Straws and Napkins
  • Decanters
  • Glassware
  • Muddler
  • Oranges and Cherries
  • Ice Bucket
  • Coasters
  • Decorative Straws and Napkins
Instructions
  1. Tape down the inside of each tray and spray paint the bar cart with gold spray paint. Spray one coat and let it sit until dry 
  2. When dry spray paint another coat until the cart if fully painted
  3. Remove all of your tape and with a small roller paint the insides of the bar-cart navy blue
  4. Once dry then its time for styling!
