Goals & Motivation

You may want to begin your own weight loss challenge - setting goals and understanding your own motivation is a great place to start.  Take a moment to complete this form and use it to get you started on your own weight loss journey!

Goal - Is the destination for the journey - where I’d like to drive to, work towards; get to (or close to!) For example: I’d like to lose 30 pounds.  I’d like to be thinner for my sister’s wedding.
Motivation - Is the “gas” for the journey, the how I’m going to get energized, keep going, tell myself to encourage and stay focused along the way. For example:  I’d like to prove to myself that I can finally do this.

When thinking about filling in the form below keep in mind the following:

  • Goals need to be set from the start in concrete terms
  • Goals need to be realistic to you and your lifestyle, your health and your previous successes and failures
  • Motivation should be considered – give some thought to this, maybe mull it over a few days, and try and think beyond ‘why am I doing this’ to ‘what will keep me on track’?
  • Goal(s) and motivation(s) change while you are on the journey and updating them is a good idea
  • Remember: Goals are where you are going and give you direction; motivation is the gas in the tank.
