Spring green your makeup bag

Erin Carpenter offers tips on spring greening your makeup bag.

STEP ONE

Clean out your old bag!

AVOID THE FILTHY FOUR: Parabens, phalates, petroleum distillates & sulfates. Go to http://www.bamboo-magazine.com/the-filthy-four-cut-take/ for a printable wallet card list!!

STEP TWO

Exfoliate!

Look for something gentle. Lots of traditional exfoliants use coconut shells, but a better alternative is wax beads or jojoba beads... so gentle that you can use it 3 times a week, just sluffs off the skin, doesn’t rip the skin.

BAMBOO RECOMMENDS:

Pure & Simple Exfoliant & Mask $19 www.pureandsimple.ca

STEP THREE

Apply anti-agers!

Make sure they’re anti-oxidant rich. With these products, more is more. Anti-oxidants battle free radicals... passing of time, as your face loses collagen, sun damage, pollution in the air.

The things to look for on the label are Vitamin C, Green Tea, Edelweiss Flower, Acai... these products will prepare your skin for being in the sun more.. much like sunscreen... should apply once or twice a day.

BAMBOO RECOMMENDS:

Oliv’ Intense Anti-Oxidant Care $43

STEP FOUR

Eat Your Moisturizer
The first five ingredients in your moisturizer should be edible. A great moisturizer should maintain the skin’s moisture throughout the day. We don’t want to have to reapply all the time because we’re dry. Essential part of any beauty routine.
