Adam van Koeverden Gets Ready for London
By: Christina Yonzon, Marilyn.ca
Adam van Koeverden happened to stumble into the sport of kayaking by coincidence. His mother, Beata, tells Marilyn that when he was just a young teenager, the Burloak Canoe Club in Oakville, Ontario was looking for fall recruitments. Adam joined, and several years later, he won Olympic gold, silver and bronze medals in sprint kayaking. Nowadays, a typical week consists of approximately twenty-five hours of training. The upcoming London 2012 Games is Adam’s third Olympics, and the veteran isn’t worrying himself. “I’m trying not to think too much about every step of the road on the way to that race.” We’ll be cheering Adam on, along with his mom Beata and van Koeverden relatives. The London 2012 Olympic Games starts on July 27 on CTV.
