Classic Shortbread Cookie


  • 1 lb butter
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • 4 cups flour
  • 3 Tbsp cornstarch


  1. Preheat oven to 325F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and gradually add sifted icing sugar. Sift flour and cornstarch together then add gradually to butter mixture forming a dough.
  3. On a floured surface roll out dough and cut out shapes with cookie cutters. Place on cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Cool on rack. Decorate as desired.
