Roger Mooking's Musical Side
By: Violetta Holl, Marilyn.ca
Resident chef Roger Mooking is a wiz in the kitchen, but some may be unaware that he is also a JUNO Award winning musician. His rapping career took off as a member of “Bass is Base.” He shared the stage with legends such as James Brown and Celine Dion, and now takes centre stage with his recently released second solo album “Feedback.”
Mooking ‘s new album is about community. After travelling around the world, he came to the conclusion that people are the same everywhere he went. “No matter what income, age, race or sex, everybody has to deal with their personal struggle,” he adds.
He wanted to incorporate this sense of community into the creation of his music video for his new single, “The Hum.” Mooking put out a call for people to submit various photos through Instagram and compiled them into a lyric music video. “We have pictures from Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Poland, New Zealand and Toronto. It’s amazing!”
Although cooking remains to be one of Mooking’s passions, he plans to focus on the album and looks forward to upcoming performances.
