Phillip Phillips Performs

Phillip Phillips’ song “Home” has gone mega platinum and is the best selling “American Idol” coronation song ever.

“I don’t think anybody really knew how big this song was going to get. There are some songs you listen to and you know it’s going to be a great hit, but it might not be. So this thing kind of caught everybody by surprise, especially when it got on the Olympics.”

“Home” was chosen for the 2012 Olympics in London and for us Canadians the song has become a sort of an anthem when it appeared in Tim Hortons commercials.

After the song was released Phillips admits that people began tweeting him and telling him how they heard it over and over again.

“I said, ‘oh no hope people don’t get annoyed with it.’ They seemed to like it so it’s a good thing.”

In November of 2012 Phillips released his debut album, “ The World from the Side of the Moon,” and has been touring since. “ It’s been nice. I enjoy being on the road, seeing different cities, meeting new people and everything. It’s interesting.  This kind of feels like home a little bit.”

In fact, a few months back he was in Toronto on Marilyn’s morning show, “Roger Darren and Marilyn” on CHUM FM, and she asked him when he would appear on her television show. Phillip Phillips immediately responded saying that he would come back.

So why does he love coming back to our country?

“You’re all just nice people. It’s kind of weird at times. Wow, so nice.”
