Shawn Desman Checks an Item off his Bucket List

With a platinum debut album, Juno award and chart topping singles, one must wonder what could possibly still be on Shawn Desman’s bucket list. The singer, songwriter and dancer stopped by “The Marilyn Denis Show” to sing “Dum Da Dum” from his newly released fourth studio album “Alive” and checked off an item off his list in the process. “ I said this off camera, but I’ve got to say it again, it is honestly an honour to be on the show with you. I can check this off my bucket list now,” he explains to Marilyn.
Desman has written and produced the entire album. “I wanted to make an album this time around that was more organic and I say that meaning it’s less ‘synthy,’ more guitars, more piano, more live stings and I’m really happy with this project. It came out yesterday; the reviews has been amazing!” In conjunction with the album a short film by the same title and set to the music premiered on MuchMusic. It features such hits as “Nobody Does It Like You” and the song he performed on the show, “ Dum Da Dum.”
Desman believes that the project gives his fans a chance to be more engaged with his music, more than just a music video. The story follows a dancer from a small town in Ontario called Fergus. She moves to Toronto to pursue her dreams, which means leaving all her loved ones behind including her boyfriend. “Drama this, drama that, lots of stuff happening.”
But Shawn Desman didn’t just inspire the storyline, because he acts in the film as well. His character is not a stretch from the truth either, as he plays a famous performer named Shawn Desman. He stars alongside “Heartland’s” Kaitlyn Leeb, MuchMusic “Degrassi: The Next Generation’s” Melinda Shankar, and “Lost Girl’s” K.C. Collins.
After all these accomplishments what’s next on Desman’s list? “I’ve been able to garner a catalogue of songs that people know, songs that have been hit singles off the last record especially, “Night Like This,” “Shiver, “Electric,” which were Platinum and Gold.” Now, he is planning on taking these songs on the road and is headlining his first tour.
“We start in Montreal tomorrow and make our way all the way west.” On Valentine’s Day, Desman will perform in Mississauga. “What better way to spend Valentine’s Day than with yours truly,” he adds.
