You may know Anderson Cooper as a journalist who risks his life on the front lines, but there is another side to him. For instance, did you know he lives in a 100 year old fire house?
“People know you can be smart and be interested in what’s happening in the Middle East, and also watch the ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,’ which sadly I watch religiously,” he shares.
Cooper will host his own daytime talk show this fall on CTV called “Anderson.” His goal is to make it informative and entertaining. It will be based on real conversations and cover a spectrum of topics, which will give Cooper a freedom to discuss anything from politics to his favourite Real Housewives.
“It’s nice to show who you are, and show yourself as a multifaceted person,” he says. Working in news puts come constraints on reporters and doesn’t always allow them to tell stories in depth. “For me it’s all about story telling,” he says.
The talk show has been in the works for over a year. Cooper did not want to leave news completely because he takes reporting seriously. So, the network allowed him to do the talk show and still host nightly. “It’s nice to do a mix of things” he adds.
This year Anderson Cooper was attacked while covering the Egypt riots. “I always wondered what it would be like to get punched. I now know,” he jokes. He admits to being scared, but just like with the show he is always up for new experiences.
“I’m a firm believer in plunging head first into the things that scare you most, whether it’s in work or life.”
