He's the third most successful American idol ever. Chris Daughtry and his self-titled band 'Daughtry' have sold over seven million albums and say their most recent, is their best one to date.

"I just feel like creatively we outdid ourselves.  I think we're just better songwriters in general, better storytellers and we had a little bit more freedom and a lot of time off before we started writing." said Chris

The quintuple-platinum, grammy-nominated rock band from North Carolina appeared live on the Marilyn Denis Show Monday to perform their debut track 'Crawling Back to You'.  Chris and his bandmates said the well-needed break made for a more organic writing process.   

"There's no right or wrong way way to do it.  Just when it feels right, go with it!" said Chris.

Daughtry's highly anticipated album "Break the Spell" releases on November 21st, 2011.
