Soul singer Jarvis Church visited “The Marilyn Denis Show” along with his band “The Soul Station” to perform his song “Do It Better.”
Church rose to fame as the front man of the award-winning Canadian band, “The Philosopher Kings” and since then has gone on to become a solo artist.
“This song wakes me up,” he says when referring to his energetic performance. The single is an original off of his new album that he recorded in two days, which is titled, “The Soul Station Vol. 1: The Songs Of Sam Cooke – A Tribute.”
Sam Cooke is the originator of soul music and has inspired countless artists, such as Aretha Franklin and of course Jarvis Church. “It’s just such amazing songs, and so many people don’t know who Sam Cook is and I thought it would be great to really just to feature this amazing artist.”
Church plans on recording a series of four or five albums each spotlighting a different soul singer that has influenced him.
“On each of these albums a sort of a really fun aspect of it is I’m going to do a bunch of my favourite songs, but then a couple I’m going to write of the genre, and this “Do it Better’ is a new one I just wrote.”
For now he is keeping the artists he will be highlighting a secret.
