Get to know famed (and knighted!) singer-songwriter, composer and pianist Sir Elton Hercules John, CBE, by the numbers!

1 – Elton John has one son (who has three names: Zachary Jackson Levon). He was born on Christmas Day 2010.

3 – The age John started playing the piano.

6 – He has won six Grammy Awards, along with an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Tony Award.

11 – It took 11 years to make his newest film, “Gnomeo and Juliet”

20 – John is celebrating 20 years of sobriety. “I’m enjoying myself more than I ever had. I know how to live myself life off stage.”

24 – John was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II on February 24th, 1998, in commemoration of his charitable work.

50 – John has more than 50 Top 40 hits to his credit.

120 – He played 120 live shows last year. “I think I’m singing better, I’m playing better.
I’m more enthusiastic than ever,” he says.

1,662 – John was the 1,662nd person to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

33 million – John’s “Candle in the Wind 1997,” a song he last sang at the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales sold over 33 million copies. The song proceeds of approximately £55 million were donated to the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.

250 million – In his four-decade career John has sold more than 250 million records.
