Sarah Gadon: Part-time Student and Rising Star

By: Christina Yonzon, Marilyn.ca

Canadian actress Sarah Gadon dropped by CTV’s ‘The Marilyn Denis Show’ today to chat about her latest film, ‘Cosmopolis.’ Gadon recently attended the 2012 Cannes Film Festival where the film premiered. Another film of hers, ‘Antiviral’ also premiered at Cannes.

“It’s incredible to go to Cannes, first of all, and to be there with two films,” says Gadon. “And to walk the red carpet with Brandon (Cronenberg) and David (Cronenberg) was a really special moment for me and for Canadian films.”

And it certainly looked like Gadon had a wonderful time at the festival. When a photo of the ‘Cosmopolis’ cast at Cannes showed up on screen, Gadon appeared to be the most excited out of the bunch as her hands held her smiling face.

“I think I saw how big the crowd was,” Gadon laughs.

‘Cosmopolis’ takes place over 24 hours and follows a young billionaire (played by Robert Pattinson) traveling across Manhattan in a limo. Along the way, his life unravels – mentally, economically and socially. Gadon plays the billionaire’s wife of only 22 days.

Gadon is a part-time student, studying Cinema Studies at the St. George campus of the University of Toronto. She is currently in town filming her next movie, ‘An Enemy’ opposite Jake Gyllenhaal.

When asked about working with big names like Pattinson, Gyllenhaal and Michael Fassbender (in ‘A Dangerous Method’), Gadon tells Marilyn that the actors’ Twitter followers often give her a sense of what to expect.

“I get all their fans and so it’s kind of interesting to compare Pattinson fans and Gyllenhaal fans,” she explains. “You get to see what kind of fans they draw.”

‘Cosmopolis’ opens across Canada June 8.
