Best known for his roles on “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “Melrose Place,” actor Jack Wagner stopped by to chat with Marilyn about his love of golf and all things B&B – including his character’s recent cancer scare on the daytime series.
Though Jack Wagner’s “The Bold and the Beautiful” character Nick Marone began the show as a bearded, smoking sea captain, he then moved into the fashion world and has recently had a run in with cancer.
“It was an opportunity to really do an awareness storyline and I think it was done really well,” says Wagner and congratulates CBS and “The Bold and the Beautiful” for taking on this challenge.
Wagner admits he’s been an occasional smoker, but says working on this storyline has opened his eyes to the grim realities behind lung cancer.
Wagner kicked off his soap opera career as Frisco Jones on “General Hospital,” a role that was followed by Dr. Peter Burns on “Melrose Place.”
“To go from daytime to night time was a really big thing for me,” Wagner says. “It was a lot of fun.”
It was on “Melrose Place” that he met fellow actor, Heather Locklear. “I was coming out of a divorce, and that’s always so very traumatic, and she was coming out of something similar,” he said about the beginnings of their friendship. But this friendship eventually blossomed into a relationship and they’ve been together since 2007.
Next up, Wagner told Marilyn he’s soon off to South Africa for a “Bold and the Beautiful” press tour, but not before Marilyn revealed he’s a “scratch golfer” and got him to share some putting tips.
“Just try to give ‘er a whack,” he says, putter in hand.
