Serena Ryder Gonna Stompa

"Clappa your hands. Stompa your feet," Serena Ryder sings her song. And that is exactly what the audience is doing while listening to her single, "Stompa" off her new album "Harmony."
The three time JUNO award winning singer's sound has often been referred to as a cross between Adele and The Black Keys.
"I think that's amazing," the singer replies when asked about the comparison.
For her latest album, she had originally written 65 songs, of course, not all made it on there.
"What happened is my manager got this gut feeling and she was like let's just keep going. And I was like, 'What? Keep going? I have 65 songs.' But I trusted her and then the next 13 songs are what actually ended up being on the record. So these are all brand new."
That makes the total number of the songs she wrote for the record a whopping 78.
The preparations for the album began when she flew to Los Angeles to write with a few producers. She enjoyed collaborating with Jerrod Bettis and Jon Levine so much that they followed her back to Toronto. They worked on her record in her home studio.
Other then releasing her album, it was a big year for Ryder for a variety of reasons, "I fell in love, and that was amazing. It helps you love yourself, which is really great. And then building my recording studio and having the best time."
Her boyfriend and his band are frequently recording in her studio. But her next client may just be Marilyn Denis.
"I'm going to record my first single with you," Denis jokes.
