Control Frizz with these 5 Steps

Chantel’s nails by CND at Ritual Spa, www.cnd.com; www.ritual.ca.

Step 1: Use a shampoo and conditioner that is hydrating. Frizz is caused by dry hair so combat it with products that seal moisture. Tip: Don’t strip your hair’s oil by shampooing everyday.

Product: Matrix Biolage Smooththérapie, Deep Smoothing Shampoo, $16.95, and Conditioner, $18.95, www.matrixcanada.com

Step 2: Apply an oil treatment in the shower. Oil treatments are lightweight and don’t weigh your hair like most masques.

Product: Josie Maran Argan Hot Oil Self-Heating Hair Treatment, $36, available at Sephora.com

Step 3: Use a micro-fibre towel. A micro-fibre towel soaks up moisture better than your everyday towel. Towel drying hair roughens the cuticle and makes hair frizzier.

Product: Sephora Collection Microfiber Hair Turban, $26, Sephora.com

Step 4: Use tools that have Ion technology. Hair has a natural positive charge and ion technology has negative ions which neutralizes the positive charge in hair to reduce frizz.

Product: Rowenta Beauty Infini Pro Auto Sensor Dryer, $219, www.rowentabeauty.ca and John Frieda Paddle Brush, $15.99, available at Walmart

Step 5: Prevent frizz from coming throughout the day with a finishing spray. Tip: avoid sprays with high alcohol content as alcohol dehydrates the hair.

Product: Garnier Fructis Style Sleek Finish 5 in 1 Serum Spray, $5.49, available at drugstores
