Amanda's Top 5 Tips for Decorating a Rental
Design expert, Amanda Forrest shares ways that you can create a cozy space out of your rental that’s just right for you.
Vingette Wall Color:
Use unusual items mounted on the wall - Think outside of what you would normally see on walls and opt for interesting items, like a rake to hang necklaces or keys, a luxurious scarf, empty cigar boxes or postcards are very vintage looking, or try a table runner. Bonus points, for hanging in groups of three for an aesthetic appeal like the designers do!
Use area rugs - These beautiful pieces are dual purpose on either your floor, or walls. When you can’t paint you can hang a rug on the wall! Measure before you go to the store so that you can fit it in an elevator and doorway. Plus, you can take it with you – so invest in something you love!
Invest in statement lighting - You can take an existing fixture and replace it with something fun! Plus, you get to take it with you when you leave!
Use mirrors – These allow light to bounce around your space, making it look even bigger, and are kind of like wall art.
Accessorize with abandon - Quirky whimsical accessories make a space your own.
