1. Using bright colour is about balance! Just as you should not necessarily wear an entire purple outfit with purple shoes, you should not paint your walls a bold colour and then upholster all your furniture in the same colour. Pick one or the other. Purple is the colour of imagination and promotes mental stability. Think about trying purple tones in a home office or family room. This shade can be used on all 4 walls of your room as long as it is balanced with creamy neutrals. Our yellow accent is reserved for pillows, vases or art.
2. Bright colours can look modern! This example of pairing black and grey with my vivid orange walls looks contemporary and fresh but be careful to pick a very brown based orange so your room does not look like a construction sign! The colour orange is optimistic and uplifting. This colour would look really inviting in a dining area, imagine the warmth from candles as you eat! How about trying this in a basement family room, if there is little window light, just paint an accent wall, instant warmth!
3. Colour will change the mood of your room! Blue is associated with trust and loyalty. This is perfect for a master bedroom or office space. The richness of the blue is timeless and pairs nicely with natural wood tones. This colour can easily be painted on all four walls and is very liveable for a long time. My gold accents really add a glamour factor but this colour could easily have a more masculine look paired with hammered metals and black and white photography.
