Andrew Pike's Tip on Getting the 'Look For Less' in Your Kitchen

Backsplash

Instead of using full mosaic tile for the back splash, cut the cost with affordable basics and add a detail like a band or an insert. Also could use peel and stick tile or a product like Stone Skin that has a 4mm thickness and easily goes over existing tile. www.stoneskinstore.com

Sinks

Drop in sinks for an easy retrofit in an existing counter when you can’t afford to change them out. Home depot has a granite stone sink for $299.

Cabinetry

If you’re expanding the size of your kitchen, and can't find a perfect match to the existing cabinetry, go with two contrasting styles & a complimentary colour to make them cohesive. I recommend painting the cabinets to my clients who are looking to save money – great alternative.

Countertops

Good looking laminate countertop options when you can't afford quartz or granite, and Butcher block (from IKEA) is a cool option too.

Flooring

Affordable stone and porcelain options for a great refresh. Big Box options, as well as nationally available options.

Hardware

Look for great glass/acrylic options and fun knobs that aren’t your standard options.
