Jillian Harris new co- host of Love It or List It Vancouver, previously from The Bachelorette stopped by to chat with Marilyn about love and design.
While The Bachelorette’s relationship didn’t last long, being on the show was a learning experience, and she is grateful to have had the opportunity. Harris has a new love now, a professional snowboarder.
Extreme Home Makeover was an opportunity to showcase her interior design skills while helping a deserving family in need. Joining the team was a dream fulfilling opportunity. Originally invited to appear on one episode she stuck around for multiple seasons making it one of the most rewarding experiences of her career.
Love It or List It was the ideal challenge for the designer who had previously worked in commercial design for restaurants, but was told her look wasn’t corporate enough. The new show allows Harris to utilize her visual aesthetic to help people re-vamp their homes. She’s living her dream designing on TV, in her own neighborhood.
Shooting can be challenging while working on two projects simultaneously for 6 weeks at a time. During which the families are out of their homes for 4 weeks. Having conversations about money can be stressful knowing that funds are coming out of the homeowner’s pockets, but the final product makes all the stress worth it.
Harris was approached by the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver to decorate the prize home in Sun Peaks every year. The house features details characteristic of Harris’ style with light, airy rooms and traditional touches, while maintaining the modern West-coast feel that Vancouver is known for.
